An Irish designer has been appointed by the Alexander McQueen fashion house as its new Creative Director.
Dublin born, Seán McGirr, has officially been honoured with the role and will take over from Sarah Burton who has held the position for 26 years.
McGirr takes up the mantel following his role as Head of Ready-to-Wear at JW Anderson, where he’s been working since 2020. Before that he worked for Dries Van Noten in Antwerp, and was apart of Uniqlo’s creative offices in Tokyo and Paris working on the men’s collections guided by Christophe Lemaire for four years between 2014 and 2018.
McGirr started out assisting Burberry and Vogue Hommes in Japan following his Masters of Arts in Fashion in London.
