Young woman killed in Co. Waterford road accident named locally

Katie Houlihan sadly passed away in a road accident on Monday evening in Waterford.

The young woman killed in a Co. Waterford road accident has been named as Katie Houlihan.

The 21-year-old sadly lost her life in a single-vehicle road traffic collision on February 19th.

The incident happened on the R685 at Quillia in Tramore, County Waterford.

Katie was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A post-mortem examination will take place at University Hospital Waterford.

Tributes have been pouring in since the harrowing accident.

Katie is survived by her parents Liz and Richie. Her family penned a tribute to her following her untimely passing.

Her death notice reads, “Beloved daughter of Liz and Richie. Loving sister of Natalie and Aíne, adored granddaughter of Kay Taylor and Paddy and Breda Houlihan, and predeceased by her grandfather Billy Taylor. Treasured niece of Darrin, Adeline, Damien, Jason, Elaine, and Gerry, much loved cousin of Billy and Toby. Deeply regretted and very sadly missed by our dearest Andrew and her extended family, friends, and neighbours.”

Gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward following the accident.

They’re urging witnesses with dash-cam footage to contact them immediately.

Those who were travelling on the R685 at Quillia between 10 pm and 10:20 pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
