Reece Meenan died in Co. Londonderry over the weekend.
A 13-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car on Saturday evening.
According to Belfast Live, the boy was outside playing with his friends when a car struck him.
The incident occurred on the Newbridge Road, near the boy’s home.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing the boy’s death due to dangerous driving but has been released on bail.
Reece’s football club coach Aaron Moffett, told of how the local community is heartbroken.
“He was a good lad, he was really liked by his peers and his managers.
“He was good at his football as well as many other sports.
“I wouldn’t say he was shy but he was a quiet young fella and just got on with the job he had to do… We’re all absolutely devastated. We’ve never dealt with something like this before.”
Police in Coleraine are appealing for any witnesses with information relating to the death to come forward and contact them.
