Virgina Giuffre wants a resolution that vindicates her and other victims, says lawyer

Giuffre was allegedly abused by Prince Andrew when she was 17.

Virginia Giuffre is unlikely to accept a “purely financial settlement” to end her sexual assault civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew and wants a resolution that vindicates her and other victims, according to her lawyer. It comes as The Duke of York's motion to have the case dismissed was rejected on Wednesday, meaning a trial will likely take place later this year. Legal experts say one way for Andrew to avoid this trial would be to come to an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre. But, according to her lawyer, David Boies, that option is not being considered.

“I think it’s very important to Virginia Giuffre that this matter be resolved in a way that vindicates her and vindicates the other victims.

“I don’t think that she has a firm view at this point, nor could she, as to exactly what the resolution should be. But I think what’s going to be important is that this resolution vindicates her and vindicates the claim she’s made.

“A purely financial settlement is not anything that I think she’s interested in.” Virginia Giuffre says she was the victim of sex trafficking and abuse by Jeffrey Epstein his powerful associates in the early 2000s. She claims she was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew when she was just 17 years old. He denies all allegations. Through a 2009 document made public last week, it was revealed that Virginia Giuffre settled with Jeffrey Epstein for $500k (€438,000). Prince Andrew's legal team had hoped to use this information to discredit any further legal proceedings, but Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled in favour of Giuffre.
