Tributes have poured in for a 13-year-old boy who was struck by a car last night in Coolock, Dublin.

Lee Henry was involved in the incident at approximately 9.35pm. The teen was rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital but tragically died from the injuries sustained.

Friends left notes at the scene of the incident.

“The world will have a little less laughter without you.

“I’ll remember you as the happy, funny young gent you were,” read one.

Other friends and relatives have taken to Facebook to express their grief.

“Rest in paradise, love you Lee,” writes a friend.

Parish priest Fr Leo Philomin, spoke to The Herald and said that Lee was a gentleman and destined for success.

“When you look around at lads in the community, he would be one of the ones that to be very proud of,” Fr Philomin said.

“He would have been well known in the community, an intelligent and courteous lad – a gentleman.”

“He would always have a smile on him, I was only talking to him the other day and he was telling me about school.”

“He loved learning, he was with me at confirmation and he was very studious.”

“He was a confident young man, he was in the plays that we had, he loved acting, so it’s just so tragic, I can’t believe it myself,” said the priest.

The driver of the car did not stop but was later found and detained at Fingal Garda station.

Three other people died this weekend as a result of collisions. On Saturday evening, a two motorbike collision resulted in one fatality on Hartstown Road.

A man in his early 20s was taken to Connolly Hospital where he died a short time later.

Another 11-year-old boy who was involved in a collision in Navan a week ago, passed away yesterday.

In the North, a man in his 30s died following a single-vehicle crash in Antrim, early yesterday.

The four deaths bring the total of road fatalities this year to 152 so far.

Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased.
