Earlier this week, news emerged that TikTok star Taylor Rousseau Grigg had died at the age of 25.
The popular social media personality had amassed over 1.4 million follows on the platform.
Her husband, Cameron Grigg announced the news on his own social media on Sunday saying, "so sudden and unexpected".
He said: "No one ever expects to have to deal with this kind of pain and heartache, especially at our age.
"This past year Taylor has dealt with more pain and suffering than most people do in a lifetime.
"And in spite of that she still has been such a light and always brought joy to everyone around her."
Now, the cause of Taylor's death has been revealed.
Speaking to TODAY, Taylor's family confirmed that she died as a result of complications relating to Addison's disease and asthma.
Addison's disease is a rare disorder that comes about when the adrenal glands don't produce enough of the hormones aldosterone and cortisol.
Adrenal insufficiency can bring on extreme fatigue, weight loss, and low blood pressure.
It can develop both slowly and rapidly and can be life-threatening.
While there is no cure for Addison's disease, those who are diagnosed with it typically take replacement hormones to treat the condition.
When her husband Cameron finished the post confirming her death, he explained how Taylor had been in and out of hospital so much since their wedding that they were struggling financially and subsequently added a link to a GoFundMe page.
