Three women killed and two children seriously injured in separate Mother’s Day crashes

The women were killed in separate road tragedies in Cork and Waterford on Mother's Day.

Two women died following a head-on collision in Cork.

The women, aged in their 40s and 60s, both died after their vehicles collided on the N72 Killarney to Mallow road around 3.30pm.

The crash also resulted in two children being seriously injured.

They were rushed to hospital by emergency services.

As reported by the Irish Mirror, the children are understood to have been passengers in the vehicle driven by the woman in her 40s.

The woman in her 60s is believed to have been the sole occupant of the car.

Furthermore, a woman in her 60s was killed in a separate road incident in Wexford.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision involving multiple cars at around 2.10pm.

The woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination is set to take place.

A man and woman (50s), who were the driver and passenger of the second car, were taken to University Hospital Waterford with serious injuries, believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

The driver of the third car, a woman in her 60s, was taken by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

She is being treated for serious injuries, also believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 1.20pm and 2.20pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
