Thousands of people set to take part in Dublin Pride

A series of celebratory events will bring life to the capital on Saturday.

Saturday 29 June welcomes the Dublin Pride parade, with thousands expected to take to the streets of the capital. The parade kicks off at 1pm sharp - you can find a handy map below - from Parnell Square, leaving from the Garden of Remembrance at 1pm towards O'Connell Street, Eden Quay and Liberty Hall before crossing the River Liffey en route to a free outdoor event at Merrion Square. Image via Dublin LGBTQ Pride / Twitter Over 150 groups are set to participate this year, marking one of the biggest Dublin Pride events ever held. Gardaí will march in uniform for the first time, while the GAA will also officially participate for the first time in the organisation's history. AA Roadwatch has an FAQ for such instances here. To facilitate the parade, Parnell Square East and North, Frederick St North and Cavendish Row will close from 9am - 4pm. Merrion Square East and South, Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Mount Street Upper and Mount Street Crescent will close from 6am - 10pm. There will be diversions on Dublin Bus routes between 11am and 6pm for the following: 1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 25(a/b), 26, 27(a/b), 33, 37, 38(a), 39(a), 40, 41(a/b/c), 44, 46a, 61, 66(a/b), 67, 70, 83, 120, 122, 123, 140, 145, 151, 155, 747 and 757.
