The Daily Mail’s Brexit result front page is a new low…

Take a bow, Britain.

The Brexit fiasco unsurprisingly is the topic of conversation for a second day, as the news that Britain has voted to leave the European Union sinks in.

By a margin of 51.9% to 48.1%, the people of the United Kingdom supported the motion to withdraw from the EU.

The backlash of the result was immediate, as British Sterling hit its lowest value in 31 years, David Cameron resigned as Prime Minister, and France overtook the UK as the world’s fifth largest economy.

The decision is being jeered at globally and so too has its front page coverage in Britain’s main media outlets.

The newspapers that championed the ‘Leave’ campaign are revelling in the ‘glorious victory’ of it all.

Daily Star – Let’s make Britain great again

The first to back Brexit, The Sun – Why should I do the hard shit?

Daily Express – World’s most successful newspaper crusade ends in glorious victory

The catastrophic economic fallout was given more prominence in the papers that backed ‘Remain’.

The Guardian – Over. And out

Daily Mirror – What happens next?

The Times – Brexit earthquake

But it’s the Daily Mail’s ‘Historic Edition’ that has people shaking their heads in disbelief.

Take a bow, Britain.

Instead of touching on the Economic chaos, David Cameron’s resignation, or Nigel Farage rolling back on the ‘Leave’ campaigns £350 million NHS promise on live TV, the focus was on the “day quiet people of Britain rose up against an arrogant, out-of-touch political class and a contemptuous Brussels elite”.

The outlet’s former political editor, James Chapman, criticised the front page in a tweet that highlighted the reaction of his six-year-old son.

Scotland, who voted in overwhelmingly large margins to remain part of the EU, will take steps to call a second referendum to leave the UK.

Scottish Mail – Disunited Kingdom

This tweet pretty much sums up how everyone else read that Daily Mail front page.

Good luck… we’ll need it.
