The Church of Scientology became well known when actor Tom Cruise began openly talking about his involvement with the church.

Other notable members of the church include Kirsty Alley and John Travolta.

The church has frequently come under scrutiny for the hold they appear to have over their members, criminal behaviour and harassment of  non-members. And several documentaries have highlighted the controversial church including an investigation by Louis Theroux.

The documentary shone a light on the secrets behind the church and set it apart from just being a religion in which Tom Cruise is involved in.

It seems that the organisation are looking to recruit Irish speakers according to Tuarisc.ie.

Members of the church have reportedly begun recruiting people from the Gaeltacht and other Irish-speakers around Ireland to translate their information and educational material into Irish.

The job description explained that, as the charity had limited funds, the rate of pay would be lower than the normal standard offered for such work.

In 2015 a similar story emerged when a charity called Narcanon which was owned by the founder of Scientology, were also seeking translators for their material.

The controversial church is believed to have a few hundred members based in Ireland, with the Irish branch being located on Abbey Street in Dublin.
