A teenage girl who lost her life in a Cavan road accident has been named. Gardaí confirmed that 17-year-old Keeley McGivney died after the tractor she was in crashed into a ditch.
The young girl reportedly arrived in Ireland to take up seasonal work before her untimely death.
She had relatives living in Cavan. The teenager visited Cavan during her summer holidays and had many friends in the area.
She has been fondly remembered by locals who are stunned following her tragic death.
Keeley McGivney was killed following a single-vehicle fatal road traffic collision involving a tractor.
The incident occurred in Loughduff, Co. Cavan at around 11 pm on May 30th.
Keeley was fatally injured when the tractor collided with a ditch, but the driver, a male in his teens, was uninjured.
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the teenager’s harrowing death.
They stated, “A female juvenile was fatally injured when the tractor collided with a ditch.
“Her body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Cavan General Hospital.
Gardaí added, “A post-mortem will take place in due course.”
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
