Suspect Held In Connection With Alleged Harassment Of RTÉ Newsreader

The suspect in question was apparently sending threatening emails.

A man is reportedly being questioned in connection with the alleged harassment of Sharon Ní Bheoláin, one of RTÉ’s main newsreaders.

According to the Irish Examiner, the man was taken to Raheny Garda Station yesterday for questioning.

The paper is reporting that he can be held for up to 24 hours before being charged or released.

The investigation was launched after Ms. Ní Bheoláin was apparently sent pornographic emails which, according to the Sunday World, contained obsessive messages and photo-shopped pictures.

The 37-year-old man is also reportedly being questioned under suspicion of threatening to kill the presenter’s partner and rape another family member.

Detectives seized a computer and other equipment from the man’s home after Ms. Ní Bheoláin reported the incident.
