Struggling with faulty Internet this evening? Here’s why…

The phrase ‘broke the Internet’ became annoying a long time ago but it seems to have actually happened tonight.

If you’ve been struggling with dodgy Internet this evening, then you’re certainly not the only one, with an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage causing havoc online. The AWS S3 storage service, used by hundreds of thousands of sites around the world, reported “experiencing high error rates” in many areas of the US on the AWS Service Health Dashboard on Tuesday evening. The dashboard reported that services were operating normally in Europe, including in a number of services in Ireland, but it might explain if you’ve been having issues on the interweb in the middle of enjoying some pancakes on Tuesday evening. Amazon stated on Twitter that they understood the root cause of the problem and were working hard at repairing it and continue to provide updates here.
