After a blustery night across the country, Met Éireann has put two weather warnings in place.
Yesterday’s nationwide Status Orange warning, the second highest alert level, has been renewed for Wednesday.
Conditions during an orange warning “have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas,” according to Met Éireann.
It implies that anyone in affected areas should be prepared for these conditions.
We can expect today to be relatively mild but very windy with strong and gusty southwest winds continuing as Storm Georgina makes landfall in Ireland.
There will be heavy rain but it will clear towards the southeast over the morning, bringing sunny spells and scattered showers, including some heavy rain.
Temperatures are predicted to reach between 6 and 8 degrees in the afternoon.
The rain will continue across Ireland this evening and tonight, with some heavy showers and with a risk of hail and thunder, especially in the north of the country.
The showers will merge at times to give longer spells of rain overnight.
The wind will also continue, with fresh to strong south to southwest winds. Temperatures overnight are expected to drop to between 3 and 5 degrees.
Met Éireann has also issued a Status Yellow Marine Warning for wind on Wednesday, so probably not the best day to bring your yacht out for a spin.
