Simone Biles just did a triple backflip, a move that is currently not even recognised by the women's gymnastics code in the US. The gymnast, who is one of the most decorated in the world, pulled off the move earlier this week. A triple backflip in the air without stopping in the piked position, Biles shared the incredible feat to her Twitter page early this week to mark National Gymnastics Day. It does, however, exists in the men's sport. The incredibly impressive and difficult to pull off move is called a 'Liukin', named after Olympian Nastia Liukin's father, who was the first athlete to ever perform it correctly in competition. Biles completed the triple backflip into a foam pit, but given her achievements in the past, it's very likely that she would be able to complete the move on the mat too. Biles is one of the most decorated gymnasts in history and the most decorated in the United States. With 30 Olympic and World Championship medals, the 23-year-old is technically the third best gymnasts in the entire world. She has long been hailed as the strongest gymnast - male or female - that history has ever seen. Earlier this year, she told Vogue that she doesn't want to be compared to other athletes at the top of their game. Rather, she wants to be in her own lane. “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps,” she said. “I’m the first Simone Biles.”
