Antrim footballer Kavan Keenan is set to stand trial for two charges relating to a hit-and-run incident, during which a pedestrian was knocked over and seriously injured.
Keenan played in the Ulster SFC this season, starting in their quarter-final loss to Armagh, and was also named in last year's Tailteann Cup Team of the Year.
He was ordered to stand trial at the Ballymena Magistrates Court, on Monday, August 11.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on October 26 of last year.
As reported by the Irish Sun, "Keenan, from Millfield in Ballymena, is accused of causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly on the Glenravel Road and with aggravated vehicle theft causing serious injury."
Keenan's father, Joseph Jude John Keenan, has also been charged with "attempting to obstruct a constable in the execution of his duty."
The vehicle in question was a Peugeot Partner van and is said to have hit a lady in her 30s, who reportedly sustained "potentially life-changing", on Glenravel Road in Martinstown just before 9pm.
The van left the site but was recovered later by police with frontal damage.
District Judge Nigel Broderick released Keenan on his own bail of £500.
