Sha’Carri Richardson will face Olympic medalists after missing out on Tokyo

Richardson will race all three Olympic medalists next week.

The fastest woman in America, who missed out on running in Tokyo due to a drug suspension, will face all three 100m Olympic medalists at a competition next week. Fans of Sha'Carri Richardson will be thrilled to hear that the 21-year-old will have a chance to compete at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, where she's set to race against Team Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson. The three Jamaican athletes recently won Gold, Bronze and Silver in the 100m event at the Tokyo Olympics, the event Richardson would have been competing in before her disqualification. Speaking about the upcoming race, her agent Renaldo Nehemiah told The Wall Street Journal, "Sha'Carri is focused on running a good race since she last competed at the US Olympic Trials, she will be focused on executing her race to the best of her ability regardless of who is in the race." Born in the year 2000, Sha'Carri has been running since she was a young girl. She began running track and field in Carter High School in Dallas before joining Louisiana State University. In 2016 she won the 100m race at the AAU Junior Olympics in the States before making her international debut the following year. Sha'Carri is confirmed to be one of 9 competing in next weekend's Prefontaine Classic at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field and it will be the first professional race she's participated in since being suspended for marijuana use before this year's Tokyo Olympics.
