Search for missing 28-year-old Dean McCann stood down after discovery of body

The search for missing Dean McCann has been stood down.

A body has been found during the search for the missing 28-year-old. Dean had been missing from home since February 5th. It is understood that he was last seen in Eyre Square in Co. Galway. However, Gardaí announced his body had been found on Sunday, February 13th. Dean's body was located in Dangan, Co. Galway. Gardaí issued a statement after the harrowing discovery. "Following the recovery of a body in Dangan, Co. Galway on Sunday, 13th February 2022, the missing person appeal in respect of Dean McCann, 28 years, has been stood down. "An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter." Last week, Dean's sister Tara issued a public plea. She urged people to help spread the word about her missing brother so they could bring him home. She wrote, "How could he be in such a busy location of Eyre Square and no one see anything. He could still be in Galway, but we need every single county on the lookout. She added, "You are all amazing and we feel you waiting and praying with us. Everyone wants Dean home safe. "When he lived abroad he called my mam every single day, she has never gone a day without hearing her first baby’s voice," she shared. She said Dean and his mother had such a special bond. She praised her brother and described him as a caring person who "wanted to help people in need". "He is so kind-hearted and we love him more than anything. I can’t believe we’re waking up to another day without him. "Even when I’m trying my best looking for him I expect him to just walk by or sit down beside me."
