Ryanair has today lost a crucial court battle over delayed flights.
The budget airline has reportedly lost a bid to stop passengers from claiming for flights that were delayed more than two years ago.
Manchester County Court ruled in favour of two passengers today – a ruling that could prove to be decisive in the event of further cases, with more passengers likely to come forward to seek compensation.
The airline had previously stated that customers had signed a two-year rule by agreeing to their terms and conditions, and are planning to appeal the case.
“We note this ruling which reverses Lower Court orders that a two year time limit for claims is reasonable,” a spokeswoman stated.
“Since we believe a six year time limit for submitting such claims is both unnecessary and unreasonable, we have instructed our lawyers to immediately appeal this ruling.”
The court decision will only affect customers who flew with Ryanair before 2013.
