River Island announced that three Ireland stores will permanently close
Retail chain River Island announced that three of its stores in Ireland are closing down, with one closing from today.
Since news broke earlier this month that the Henry Street store will close from today, new reports reveal that 33 stores will close in January 2026.
The Irish Independent reported that the beloved shop, located in Dublin, would permanently close on June 27th.
Despite Henry Street closing, it’s reported that the Grafton Street branch is to remain open.
River Island is reportedly closing some stores due to “financial pressure and transition”, the Irish Independent reports.
Now, River Island announced that 33 more stores will shut their doors in January 2026, with two based in Northern Ireland.
Sky News reported that the Lisburn branch and the branch in Bloomfield Shopping Centre in Bangor will be closing their doors next year.
It’s reported that stores are closing down due to “a restructuring plan which will be put to creditors in August.”
The closure of these River Island jobs is set to put hundreds of jobs at risk, as River Island has about 5,500 employees.
