Police are investigating new information passed onto them regarding the deaths of Princess Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed.
According to reports the information includes an allegation that they were killed by a member of the British military.
Scotland Yard said in a statement: “The Metropolitan Police Service is scoping information that has recently been received in relation to the deaths and assessing its relevance and credibility.”
The investigation, which will be conducted by the special crime and operations command, is not a re-investigation and does not come under Operation Paget.
Princess Diana, Dodi and chauffeur Henri Paul died after the Mercedes they were travelling in crashed in a tunnel in Paris back in 1997. The subsequent inquest found that they had been unlawfully killed.
The news comes in the same weekend that Prince Harry put his support behind the Halo Trust, following in his mother’s footsteps.
The 28-year-old was out in Angola visiting sites that are being cleared of landmines.
