Phantom FM’s New Name Change Confirmed…

Phantom FM no more!

It has been confirmed that Phantom 105.2 is to be rebranded as TXFM when it relaunches this March.

Though the station’s style of music output isn’t set to change, the new name suggests that the TXFM is aligning itself to sister station Today FM.

The two radio stations have businessman Denis O’Brien in common, who owns Today FM and has a one-third of a share in Phantom through Communicorp Group.

“There is still a real opportunity to deliver a sustainable indie-music service for Dublin that will have a broader appeal” said CEO of Today FM, Peter McPartlin.

“We are very confident the station will be given a new lease of life through its rebranding” added Ricky Geraghty, chief executive of Phantom.

The shareholders of the rebranded TXFM are Evergreen Ventures, Gaiety Investments and Communicorp Group.

Phantom, was launched in 2006 – A large number of redundancies are being implanted amongst its staff in order to make the station more viable.
