Paul O’Grady’s husband shares heartfelt tribute on his ‘heavenly’ birthday

Paul O’Grady’s husband, Andre Portasio shared an emotional tribute to his late husband on his heavenly 68th birthday.

The iconic TV presenter passed away “unexpectedly but peacefully” on March 28th aged just 67.

Last night, Andre wrote a heartfelt message to mark his late husband’s birthday with throwback photos of Paul holding a cake and the couple standing for a photo on the beach.

He wrote: “HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY. Myself and the dogs miss you lots and we can only wish you were here with us. Love you always @paulogrady.

Over 1,300 people took to the comments with supportive and kind messages for Andre and Paul’s family during this devastating time.

Cheryl Fergison wrote: “Love to you on this day Andre … Wishing the boy a happy Birthday and hugs for you and the pooch’s.”

This fan commented: “Bless him top fella happy heavenly birthday Paul loved and missed.”

Paul and Andre married in 2017 and had a low-key, intimate wedding.

Following Paul’s death in March, Andre announced the sad news to his fans in a social media statement.

He wrote: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.

“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
