A number of patients were evacuated from Cork University Hospital earlier today following the collapse of a ceiling.
The incident took place this morning at 8.30am, when an area of the ceiling fell through in the ophthalmic unit.
According to The Irish Examiner, significant water damage caused several ceiling tiles to give way and may have been due to a major leak at the hospital.
While several people were taken from the area and a number of outpatient appointments cancelled, services for casualty patients are believed to be continuing as normal.
