Discounted rooms offered to women willing to sleep with Dublin landlord

The housing crisis has reached a new low

It has emerged that one Dublin landlord is posting advertisements online offering discounted rented rooms in exchange for ‘”fun.”

This particular landlord, based in Dublin 2 has deemed it perfectly acceptable to take advantage of vulnerable young women in the capital by abusing their position of power and expecting regular sex in return for cheaper accommodation.

The advertisement was posted on the Irish version of Craigslist, a popular buy, sell and trading site where traditionally users can find second-hand cars, free furniture or even discover a job listing.

However, there is a well-publicised darker side to this site, best known in some circles for its ‘casual encounters’ section where people’s innermost desires and fetishes are advertised in the hope that a stranger will want to have sex with them. In an even darker twist, the site has been accused of  advertising the services of prostitutes and under aged trafficked women.

According to news.com there has been a proliferation in the amount of cheap sex for low rent advertisements put on the site in London and New York, but this one is just a little too close to home.

The ad was placed on the site 18 July with the title ‘ €200 Cheap accommodation, for a little fun (Dublin 2)’

“I am a landlord with 2 vacancies for houseshares. I am offering 50% of for tenants willing to have some fun. Nothing weird or very frequent…say just twice per month. Women only.

I can rent out rooms for 400 euros, but If we have this agreement, I can rent for 200. Maybe less if we get on well.

Send a sexy photo and your phone number, then we can arrange things further”

Currently, the Irish rental market is in dire straits. According to Daft, the market is plagued with ‘chronic supply shortages’ and an increase in average rent nationwide of 9.3% in the year to March 2016.

It doesn’t take an economist or a rental expert to see that there is a case of supply not meeting demand here in Dublin and this is highlighted by the ridiculous living situations of many students and foreigners who often squeeze five or six people into one room.

To see an ad like this posted on Craigslist is just vile because people are clearly very desperate to find somewhere to live and no women should have to sell her body in exchange for a safe and decent place to live.
