Mother of Amy Fitzpatick ‘fighting for life’ in hospital

Amy Fitzpatrick went missing in 2008

According to The Irish Mirror, Amy's mother, Audrey Mahon, is in hospital with liver failure.

The publication said she will need a 'miracle'.

Her husband, Dave, told the publication that his wife is a fighter and is hopeful she will pull through.

He said, "If she pulls through this, it will be a miracle. I hope she does.

"Look, she’s after fighting for the last 17 years for Amy, and now she’s paying the ultimate price. She’s given her life."

Dave explained that there is a possibility that Audrey may have brain damage when she wakes up, but they won't know if there's any damage until she wakes up.

The mother of Amy Fitzpatrick has tirelessly campaigned since her daughter disappeared in 2008.

Amy was just 15 years old when she went missing in the Costa Del Sol on January 1st, 2008.

Amy had been babysitting with a friend at the friend’s brother’s house and left at 10 pm.

The Mijas Costa house was only a short walk away from where Amy and her family were staying, but she never made it home and was never seen again.

"I'm annoyed that Audrey has been doing this for 17 years alone without any help from the government. They should hang their heads in shame. They've never once knocked on our door. She's paying with her life. It's disgusting. Hopefully, she's not gone, but she's after giving her life with no help," Dave added.

Audrey also lost her son, Dean Fitzpatrick, on May 25th, 2013. He was fatally stabbed by Dave Mahon, Audrey's partner, at his flat in Burnell Square in Malahide.

Mahon was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter. He received a seven-year prison sentence.
