Chris Watts “still in touch” with woman he murdered family to be with

He's currently serving five life sentences in prison.

Chris Watts, the man whose murder of his family and children in 2018 was the subject of a major Netflix documentary, is still in touch with the woman he killed them in order to be with. Watts will spend the rest of his life in prison as he serves five life sentences plus 48 years without parole for the brutal murder of his family, a horrific crime that was the focus of the 2020 Netflix documentary American Murder: The Family Next Door. According to a fellow Dodge Correctional Institute inmate of Watts's though, he is still in contact with Nichol Kessinger, the woman he was having an affair with. In his confession to the murders, Watts said he did it because he wanted to be with Kessinger. Speaking to the Daily Mail, David Carter, who was released from Dodge on 27 February, said: "He told me she said that she needed to speak to him to clear some things up. He wouldn't tell me exactly what she had said." Kessinger had gone into hiding and taken on a new identity when Watts's crimes came to light, but according to Carter, she was the one who reached out.  Carter said: "[Watts] wasn't supposed to have any contact with her, but she initiated it by writing to him." When prison authorities discovered the two were in contact they suspended Watts's email account. According to another source, Watts communicates with many women he's never met, as a result of receiving an influx of letters and correspondence since the documentary was released on Netflix last year. Apparently he also receives letters from people who are angry at him, and people of faith who pray for him, but "many of them are from women who thought he was handsome and felt compassion for him" and "want to connect with him romantically."
