Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow-ice warning for most of Ireland

Oh dear.

Met Éireann has just issued a status yellow snow-ice warning for Ireland. It has been reported that scattered sleet and snow showers are forecast, and will be most frequent across Ulster and Connacht. However the rest of the country may also be affected by the cold weather.

Very cold today, with a mix of bright or sunny spells & scattered showers, some of sleet & snow in the morning, but turning mainly to rain & sleet during the day with a risk of snow mainly over high ground. The Irish meteorological service said that some showers would affect central and eastern areas at times, with the odd flurry of snow further south.

We have been warned that icy and slippery conditions are expected due as a result of the ice and snow on untreated surfaces.The warning came into effect at 11pm and will remain in operation until 11am on Tuesday.
