Vasquez is the latest costume character to be arrested. Previously a man dressed as Elmo was arrested for shouting racist comments.
Apparently, a man dressed as the Cookie Monster pushed a toddler in NYC after his mother refused to pay him a tip for taking a photo.
Vasquez was charged with forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse. He was ordered held on $1,500 bail after a court appearance Friday.
These “disturbing incidents . . . reinforce our belief that these costume characters must be licensed and regulated,” said Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance, told New York Daily News.
