Louth crèche closed after inspectors uncovered rodent infestation

The FSA reported six closure orders and one prohibition order during the month of March.

A crèche in Louth has been ordered to close after a rodent infestation was discovered by food safety inspectors in multiple parts of the building. The infestations were found in a pre-school room, baby room and a nappy changing area of the crèche in Adree. Aladdins’ Cave Montessori School and Crèche in Adree, Co Louth was just one of the six closure orders given out by the FSA in March after it was found that they were in breach of food safety legislation.

FSA chief executive Dr Pamela Byrne has since reminded food business owners in Ireland that they should “fully understand that it is their legal responsibility to ensure they are maintaining a high standard of food safety through their food business.” Other closures included Panda House takeaway in Dundalk and Haji Baba in Ballyfermot who were ordered to close a container unit they had near their main building. Oche Takeaway in Tallaght, Paparazzi restaurant in Ongar and SM Cuisine on Parnell Street in Dublin were all also served with closure orders.
