Tooting Broadway Tube Station has been evacuated by armed police following reports of a man threatening passengers with a scissors.

Heavily armed officers apparently swarmed the station and passengers were ordered off a train while the officers attempted to find the suspect matching a description they had received.

According to the Irish Mirror, the suspect was not found and the incident was “stood down”, however Borough officers remain at the scene and are still on the lookout for the suspect.

The incident comes as British security is on high alert following the Paris attacks of Friday evening which saw 129 people killed in a series of incidents across the French capital.

Just this morning armed police exchanged fire with a group of terrorist suspects in Paris which saw two suspects killed and five more arrested.
