Add us as a preferred source on Google »Ireland AM's Joe Shannon has sadly passed away after a three-year battle with cancer. The chef was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, but doctors confirmed it was terminal.
Ireland AM confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media this evening.
Alongside a photo of Joe Shannon, they confirmed he died this morning in Sligo.
They paid tribute to the beloved TV chef:
"We’ve some sad news to share today as our much-loved Chef and friend Joe Shannon passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by his family in Sligo."
They praised Joe and all the work he did on the show for the last 18 years.
"Joe brought such joy to IrelandAM for the last 18 years and often spoke openly about his terminal cancer diagnosis. He inspired us and so many viewers with his positive outlook, often stating that he felt lucky to have had a good life.
"Our condolences go out to his wife, Marie, his children Orla, Emer, Joseph and extended family."
The team confirmed they will pay tribute to Joe Shannon on tomorrow morning's Ireland AM.
