RTÉ GAA Analyst Joe Brolly has apologised to correspondent and commentator Marty Morrissey for comments he made during last week's The Sunday Game Live.
In a statement released today, Group Head of Sport at RTÉ, Ryle Nugent, said: "Joe is acutely aware that his ill-conceived attempt at humour was both inappropriate and extremely hurtful and had no place in any broadcast.
"Further, Joe is fully cognisant of the fact that similar comments in any future broadcast cannot and will not be tolerated."
Nugent added "Joe Brolly has spoken at length with and offered a heartfelt apology to Marty Morrissey which was graciously accepted."
The comments in question were made on last weekend's The Sunday Game Live during coverage of the Monaghan-Cavan Ulster championship.
Speaking to presenter Micheal Lyster, Brolly said: "Some people have said that Cavan football is as ugly as Marty Morrissey."
According to the statement released today, "All parties now consider this matter closed".
