The untitled prequel was written on a postcard.
An 800-word prequel to Harry Potter has been stolen in the UK. The handwritten manuscript is reportedly incredibly rare and valuable, it was written by JK Rowling 9 years ago for a charity auction.
According to the Telegraph the manuscript along with a hefty sum of cash and jewellery were stolen from a property in Kings Heath in Birmingham during a break-in between April 13 and 24.
The author herself has taken to Twitter to appeal to fans;
PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS IF YOU’RE OFFERED IT. Originally auctioned for @englishpen, the owner supported writers’ freedoms by bidding for it. https://t.co/ljEQyyj9yY

West Midlands Police have also made a plea to Harry Potter fans directly;
“The appeal goes far and wide among Harry Potter fans throughout the world, the only people who will buy this unique piece are true Harry Potter fans, we are appealing to anyone who sees, or is offered this item for sale, to contact police.”
We give them huge credit for the lightning bolt tweet… fair play lads!
The handwritten postcard by @jk_rowling was purchased to raise money for charity. #Harrypotter fans if you have any info please call 101 ⚡️ pic.twitter.com/ijBtgrxHIL
