The pair were cleared in 2011 after doubts were raised over procedures used to gather DNA evidence.
Kercher was stabbed to death in the flat she shared with Knox in 2007. There have been several theories about what occurred on the evening in question, including a sex game that went wrong and a heated argument between Knox and Kercher over the cleanliness of their flat.
Knox did not return for her the appeal in Florence, her brother and sister were present when the verdict was read out.
Prosecutors have asked for jail terms for the pair that could amount to 26 years for Raffaele and 28 for Knox. Knox has announced she will appeal the verdict.Dunnes shoppers obsessed with this co-ord perfect for summer weddings
