An Irish woman has died in Mallorca after a tragic incident occurred while she was hiking in the Tramuntana Mountains.
The 75 year old was hiking the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range alongside a group of 12 hikers when she lost her balance and slipped, according to local reports.
According to the Majorca Bulletin, the woman suffered fatal injuries when she lost her balance and fell ten metres in a steep area of Pas d'en Segarra, near Puig de Roig in Escorca.
The group of hikers she was with called for emergency assistance immediately following the incident.
The Mallorca Fire Brigade and Guardia Civil mountain rescue units were brought to the scene with the assistance of the Guardia helicopter.
Unfortunately, when these emergency services arrived at the scene, they attempted to aid the woman but she was sadly pronounced dead by medics upon arrival.
