Who is the favourite child now?

Do you ever feel a slight tinge of anxiety when you buy someone a scratch card or indeed a Lotto ticket and wonder what would happen if they actually won? We wonder if this thought went through the head of an Irish daughter who recently bought her father a winning Euromillions ticket.

The Killkenny man, who wishes to remain anonymous picked up his half a million euro winnings at the National Lottery Headquarters in Dublin today with his daughter in tow.

The life changing lottery ticket, was a €3 lotto Quickpick that was purchased on Tuesday 23rd of August in the EuroSpar, New Park Shopping Centre in Kilkenny.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the dutiful daughter who bought the winning ticket said

“I bought my dad the EuroMillions ticket in Eurospar. We’re regular shoppers there.

The next day I heard the owner of the EuroSpar on KCLR radio saying they’d sold the winning ticket for the draw with a prize of half a million.

I heard the numbers and I recognised at least three of them from my dad’s ticket. I got on to him straight away.”

Delighted but also thinking it was too good to be true, the dad was hesitant to except that he had won, he said

“…she came home, got the ticket and checked the numbers on her phone. You’ve won the half a million she was shouting.

But I didn’t believe her. So I had her call the National Lottery and, sure enough, they confirmed that we had a winning ticket of 500,000, unbelievable.”
