Cillian Flaherty’s episode of Ireland’s Fittest Family will air this week
RTÉ has confirmed Cillian Flaherty’s episode of Ireland’s Fittest Family is set to air this week.
The teenager sadly passed away at the mere age of 15 in October 2024.
He passed away at his home in Dublin but took part in Ireland’s Fittest Family before his untimely death.
The teenager’s family has given RTÉ their blessing to show scenes from their family’s episode.
The episode is reportedly due to air this week with RTÉ including a tribute to the late teenager in the episode.
Ireland’s Fittest Family was due to air in October but the broadcaster chose to pause the launch of the show because of his untimely passing.
They chose to postpone the show to “provide space for his family during such a difficult time.”
RTÉ confirmed the episode will honour Cillian Flaherty’s memory.
Following his untimely death, RTÉ issued a statement:
“The broadcast of the new series of Ireland’s Fittest Family, originally scheduled to begin this Sunday night, has now been postponed following the death of one of this year’s participants subsequent to the completion of the series.”
His family have watched the episode they’re featured in and have given RTÉ their blessing.
“The Flaherty family have watched the series and given their full support for it to go ahead,” they shared.
Cillian was laid to rest on Saturday, October 26th.
His funeral mass took place at the Church of St Philip the Apostle, Mountview.
