Temperatures of up to 20°C are on the way
It’s time to get your summer wardrobe ready for another trip to the beach.
The weather is expected to be sunny and dry with a chance of some small showers for the next week.
Met Éireann’s forecast expects to see sunshine up until Sunday, May 11th.
Meteorologist Liz Walsh says that there is a chance of rain but the details are “a little uncertain at this stage”.
Met Éireann’s National Forecast expects that today will be “dry and bright” with “lots of sunshine.”
However, it will also be “hazy at times due to high cloud.”
Temperatures can range from 16°C to 20°C, with higher temperatures to be seen in the west. Overnight temperatures are expected to range from 3°C to 7°C.
Later in the week, we can expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds, with a small chance of showers.
For those eager to go for a swim, sea surface temperatures are 1°C to 2°C above average, according to Walsh.
Met Éireann asks for people to “be prepared” due to higher UV and pollen levels that come with these conditions.
Irish people have been urged to practice sun safety in the coming days
Our attitudes to sun safety in Ireland are far from where they need to be.
In fact, almost eight in 10 adults claim they always/mostly use sun protection on a typical sunny summer’s day abroad, but this drops to just over half of adults that adopt the same approach and always/mostly use sun protection on a typical sunny summer’s day in Ireland.
In a previous interview with Her, experts at Eucerin said:
“To prevent sunburn, reduce the risk of skin cancer, and decrease the likelihood of early skin aging we recommend you wear sunscreen every day.”
Not only do we need to be sun safe, we need to look out for our pets.
It is advised to be mindful of high temperatures for animals.
According to experts, its advised to keep them cool, to act fast if you expect your dog is having a heatstroke and to avoid keeping dogs in cars and to minimise activity levels.
When walking your dogs, remain in shaded areas and try to walk them at cooler times of the day.
