Roughly 7,000 homes are without power this morning following strong winds from Storm Atiyah

Up to 27,000 homes were affected throughout the storm.

RTE is reporting that 7,000 ESB customers are without power this morning following strong winds from Storm Atiyah.

ESB have said that crews have been dispatched and are working in the hopes of restoring electricity as soon as possible.

Up to 27,000 customers were without power in the peak of the storm.

As for the aftermath of the storm, all motorists have been urged to be extra vigilant on roads, following the high winds of the storm.

There are reports of fallen trees and poles in Kerry, Sligo, Wicklow, Kilkenny and Longford.


Yesterday, a status orange weather warning was put in place, and was lifted this morning at 6am.

A Status Orange wind warning was in place for nine counties overnight and came to an end at 6am.

Iarnród Éireann has said that all of their rail services are operating as normal, with no issues in the aftermath of Storm Atiyah.

Paschal Sheehy took to Twitter this morning, to update people on the situation.

He wrote:

Your early-morning #StormAtiyah up-date for #Cork and #Kerry: ESB Networks is dealing with around a dozen faults that have knocked out power to more than 1,000 homes and businesses. Damage otherwise appears to be minimal. Gardaí report some trees on roads.”
