A group of activists who say they are not connected to the Home Sweet Home group, have occupied a disused block of apartments in Finglas.
The group identify as the Premier Love Project.
Colin McGettrick, a member of the group, posted a video to Facebook urging others to occupy Nama owned buildings.
Speaking to The Irish Times, McGettrick said that he has been on the housing list for 17 years.
“I’ve been on the housing list for 17 years and still haven’t been housed.”
“There are people out there living in tents, cars, vans, that’s who we want to ideally house.”
“There are people dying on our streets and there are people being treated like dogs. There’s people in desperate circumstances out there. Austerity has ripped people apart. There are people in their graves over this government’s policies and that’s what is driving us. We want to change the housing policy in this country whatever way we can. We’re going to keep on occupying Nama buildings.”
McGettrick is now calling for those on the housing list to come reside in the building.
In the video McGettrick calls Enda Kenny a leech and says it is time for him to go.
In a separate status posted to Facebook he calls for volunteers to support the movement. He says he has keys for the vacant apartments and that volunteers are needed in the space.
The activists currently in Apollo House say they have no affiliation with the Premier Love Project but they do stand in solidarity with them.
