Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns TD has given birth to her first child.
The new mum confirmed the news on Instagram this afternoon.
Holly posted a photo of her in her hospital room with her baby girl on her chest. Alongside the heartwarming photo, Cairns said she's "completely in love" with her baby girl.
She wrote: "She’s here. We’re completely in love with her x Holly and Barry."
Holly's followers showered her with loving messages following the announcement.
Síle Seoige wrote: "Aw amazing! Talk about timing. your lil Queen is here. It's the best news and what an incredible role model you are for her. Sending all my love to the three of you."
Another wrote: "Holly! A great day for the county. Welcome, little one. Congrats."
"Amazing day for it. Huge congratulations to you both," another said.
One added: "What incredible news!!and what a day to land. Her timing is incredible . Congratulations Holly and Barry."
"This must be a sign! A huge congrats on the birth of your beautiful baby girl," another said.
Holly has not yet confirmed the name of her baby girl.
This is her first child with her partner Barry.
Cairns is is contesting re-election to the Dáil in Cork South West.
The new mum stepped back from campaigning for the last three weeks as she got closer to her due date.
Deputy party leader, Cian O’Callaghan filled in for her at national campaign events, but Cairns remained active online and in Cork South West.
Cairns revealed she was pregnant with her first child during the summer.
She told her supporters: "Some personal news this Saturday, news that has been getting harder and harder to keep under wraps (quite literally), so here goes… I am overjoyed to let you know that my partner Barry and I are expecting a baby.
"We are so happy and feel so lucky because this is something we have wanted for a long time."
