It’s going to be bitterly cold in Ireland this week

Well... shit.

We thought we'd seen the last of heavy wintry weather now that we're closer to May than March, but it seems we were wrong, dead wrong in fact. Temperatures are set to plummet this week and there will even be a risk of snow in some places. Arctic weather is set to strike Ireland bringing with it freezing temperatures and frost across the country. While Monday will begin relatively warm, towards the evening it will get noticeably colder. Monday night will be cold, with temperatures dropping to between 0 and 3 degrees in places. There will be frost in places but there will be showers across parts of Connacht and Ulster as well. Tuesday will be a cold, breezy day. While temperatures will remain between 7 and 11 degrees in most places, it will feel much cooler due to the wind. It will be wet with showers of rain and hail, and in some places, the risk of sleet and snow. Wednesday will still be a very cold, but a bright day, with sunny spells. Scattered showers also, especially in the eastern half of the country, but they won't be as heavy in most areas as on Tuesday. Not as windy either, with mostly moderate north to northwest winds. Max. 8 to 11 Celsius. Tuesday and Wednesday nights will both be very cold with the risk of thunder showers and snow in places. But after Wednesday night, it will become noticeably warmer, although it will remain very unsettled.
