Gardai have launched an investigation after a woman's body was found on a beach yesterday morning.
The woman's body was discovered by a person out walking on the strand in Tramore, Waterford, just after 7am yesterday.
Gardai have said that they are probing 'all the circumstances' surrounding the finding.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and Gardai have confirmed that the results of post-mortem examinations and local enquiries will determine the further course of their investigation.
Gardai are now focussing on identifying the woman and determining how she ended up in the water.
A spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a woman’s body earlier this morning, Monday, 5th August 2024 at the promenade in Tramore, Co.Waterford.
"The body has since been removed from the scene and the local Coroner has been notified.
"The results of post-mortem examinations and local enquiries will determine the course of Garda investigations."
