Gardaí appeal for witnesses after a man was killed in a hit and run

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

A 28-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle while out for a run in Dublin. According to RTÉ, Karl Robertson was jogging on Hazlewood Drive in Artane, Dublin on Wednesday night when he was hit by a white Renault Megane van. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and the van was later found burnt out at Beechlawn Grove in Coolock. Karl was brought to Beaumont Hospital but was pronounced dead last night. His sister Niamh spoke with RTÉ News where she appealed for anyone with information to come forward:

"Anyone who has done this, anyone who may have seen something, heard something, seen a car speeding around the area last night, anyone with any information, please, please, please contact the gardaí, even if it's anonymously. I would expect the person who's done this to own up because it is a horrible, horrible thing to do to put anyone through that."

Gardaí are also looking for witnesses to come forward. A man in his 30s has presented himself to help with the incident but they are keen to speak with a man who was present at the time of the hit and run but left before the Gardaí arrived.
