The Garda strike is going ahead unless significant progress is made

The GRA has made a statement.

After a meeting at the Labour Court with the Justice Department this evening, the Garda Representatives Association (GRA) says that its planned strike action will go ahead unless they hear of "substantial and significant progress towards real and tangible increases in pay". In a statement released this evening, the GRA stated that:

"The decision of Conference on Industrial action on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th made on 28 September 2016 remains in place unless we hear of substantial and critical progress towards real and tangible increases in pay. In order to progress the negotiations, the GRA central executive committee has agreed to ballot the membership of the GRA on any non biding recommendations of the Labour Court".

The statement added that:

"The Labour Court requires the distribution of such ballot to the membership be agreed as a prerequisite before it can hear our case. The Association remains fully engaged in the negotiation process".
