€8,000 has been raised so far.
A fundraiser has been set up to help the children of a mum-of-two who tragically passed away.
Claudia Matos, who was originally from Brazil but had been living in Shannon, Co Clare for a number of years, unexpectedly passed away recently.
The hard-working mother, who moved to Ireland in search of a better life, worked two jobs to make sure her children had a better life than she did.
Claudia’s biggest dream was to see her two children go to college in Ireland.
A fundraiser has since been launched to help cover Claudia’s funeral costs and to support her children.
The GoFundMe reads: “Some families face challenges beyond what we can imagine. With a heavy heart, I am here to share the story of an incredible mother who left us too soon.
“Cláudia Matos, a Catholic, at just 45 years old, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind two teenage daughters.
“This mother dedicated her life to the care and love of her daughters, always fighting to provide the best she could within her means.”
It continues, reading: “A few years ago, in search of a better life for her daughters, she made the courageous decision to leave Brazil and move to Shannon, a small town in Ireland. There, she worked tirelessly, juggling two jobs — one in a factory and the other delivering pizzas — to ensure her daughters had the opportunities she never had.
“Sadly, her untimely passing has left a deep void and a critical financial situation. Now, the girls are not only dealing with the immense grief of losing their mother but are also facing serious financial difficulties, far from their origins.
“Without the income from their mother’s two jobs, they need our help to cover funeral expenses as well as other basic necessities like housing and food. We are asking for your support. Any financial contribution will make a huge difference in ensuring the girls can continue their lives with stability, access to education, and the security their mother fought so hard to provide.
“We sincerely thank you for your generosity and for keeping hope alive in the hearts of these two young girls.”
At the time of writing, the fundraiser has raised €8,000 of their €20,000 target.
