A family of four has been found dead in a Florida home belonging to former tennis player James Blake.

Their bodies were discovered after the house, which the retired sports star had been renting out, went up in flames around 6.00am on Wednesday morning (May 7th). Neighbours apparently notified the fire service that they heard an explosion.

Reports claim that the victims had suffered gunshot wounds and that fireworks were found in the wreckage but authorities have not yet confirmed those details.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Col. Donna Lusczynski did tell reporters: “We have also confirmed that the fire was started intentionally by an unknown accelerant”.

According to CNN, it could take the authorities days to identify the victims and they will need to wait until the residence is structurally safe before detectives can enter the dwelling.

It is not known if Blake, who was at home in Connecticut with his family when the incident happened, knew the residents personally.
