Formula 1 to no longer use ‘Grid Girls’ following recent sexism claims

It is the end of an era for 'Grid Girls' at the Formula 1.

Sean Bratches, managing director of commercial operations at Formula 1 said:

"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 grands prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms."

"We don't believe the practice is appropriate or relevant to Formula 1 and its fans, old and new, across the world" Bratches added.

This decision has come days after the Professional Darts Corporation announced they would no longer use "walk-on girls" at their sporting events. Fans were thrilled to hear the news and then diverted their attention at the Formula 1, asking them to follow suit.

Stuart Pringle, managing director of British circuit Silverstone, said:

"We wholeheartedly support the decision by F1 to drop the use of grid girls - it is an outdated practice that no longer has a place in sport."

These changes will be taking place ahead of the 2018 year of Formula 1 which begins on March 25 with the World Championship season.
