A five-year-old boy was found dead yesterday in a pond near Mulhuddart. Ahmed Bari had been reported missing earlier that day and a search for him was underway.
According to the Irish Independent, emergency services rushed to the scene after they were alerted by a passer-by.
Several ambulances and fire brigades attended the scene, a man-made pond in the Tyrrelstown area.
The Mirror is reporting that Ahmed had special needs. His uncle Azhar Bari commented: “Ahmed had special needs and he can’t talk. He was inside the house this morning and he managed to unlock the door and get out.”
The child was rushed to Temple Street Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Gardai are treating the death as a tragedy. A file is currently being prepared for the coroner’s inquest.
